Caroline woke up feeling very uneasy and dizzy.
“What is wrong with me? My head..it hurts..”, groaned Caroline.
All of a sudden, she fell onto the floor with a loud thud.
Just as she fell, Stiles rushed into the room.
“Oh my! Caroline! Are you okay?!?” Stiles asked worriedly.
Caroline moaned and tried to pull herself back up but she couldn’t so Stiles went over and helped her up.
“Be careful…now, what on earth happened?” asked Stiles as he helped Caroline up.
“Nothing. I think it’s because I’m too tired from all the mad dance practicing going on..” answered Caroline as she dusted herself.
“M-mad…dance practicing?” questioned Stiles shyly.
“Yeah. Tonight I will be performing in ‘The Stage’! I must be too excited about it that I haven’t had enough sleep!” joked Caroline.
“Well…” Stiles rubbed his head and said, “I’m sorry about last night yeah. About the Blair thing..I guess I should let it go even if it hurts me.”
Caroline smiled and said nothing.
“You aren’t mad or anything?” asked Stiles.
“No! Why should I?” Caroline rubbed her chin and smiled.
“I mean…i feel guilty you know. You always treated me so…nice. It just isn’t you.” said Stiles.
“It is not me.” Caroline laughed. “Now get along, let’s have breakfast together before I lose my consciousness.”
“Stiles?”
“Yes?” answered Stiles as he gulped down a portion of his salad.
“I wonder…if you would..you know…” Caroline shrugged as she said the words out, “come and watch me perform?”
Stiles was shocked. After the way he treated Caroline, she was still so nice to him.
He choked on his own food and thought for a few seconds before replying Caroline.
“Well, I’m not working tonight, so I suppose it’s a yes.” Stiles answered hesitantly.
Stiles could see that as she soon as Caroline heard his answer, she smiled a bit, even if he answered with a unsatisfied tone.
“Mind sending me over to ‘The Stage’ after eating?” Caroline asked shyly.
Stiles got up from the dining table and headed to the kitchen and shouted out, “Sure! No problem!” and whispered, “after how I’ve treated you..that is..”
It was very quiet in the car and Caroline and Stiles kept quiet during the first few minutes of the journey.
Stiles slid in a cd titled, “My Songs” into the cd player. Melodious guitar music could be heard from it.
“Nice songs..” commented Caroline, her right eyebrow slightly raised up.
Stiles fidgeted as he replied, “Heh…yeah, thanks. I write songs when I’m bored or when i feel like it.”
“Wow.” exclaimed Caroline. “This song is good.” Caroline clapped her hands and nodded her head to the beat of the music.
“Are you just saying it for real or just to make me feel good?” Stiles asked brashly.
Caroline smiled warmly and answered in her most sweetest tone ever, “I love the song. The end of the question.”
Before Stiles said goodbye to Caroline, she handed over a ticket to him. Stiles looked at the ticket and it stated, “VIP”. He was happy that Caroline forgave him yet sad when he thought of how he treated her.
Stiles arrived 15 minutes late for the show. Luckily he had his VIP pass, so he could escape the large pack of people crowding up the front entrance.
The Stage was totally glitzy. Stiles felt like he was in Las Vegas. The people who attended wore formally and were from the richer parts of the town. Only the rich ones have VIP passes. As for the less-rich ones, they have to depend on the time. Only the early birds get to go in first and the rest will have to wait for their turn.
Stiles asked one of the working commitee of the whereabouts of his seat.
“Lemme see your pass..” asked the woman. Stiles handed her the pass and waited patiently for an answer. “Okay, your seat is way up front, near the stage. Lucky seat you got there.” The woman winked as she showed Stiles his seat.
Stiles was about to seat on the comfy leather sofa when he heard a soft voice calling out his name.
He turned behind to find out it was Blair. Surprisingly, he felt nothing. None of the butterflies-in-his-tummy kind or nervousness upon seeing her. He smiled and asked, “What’s up?”
“Well…Caroline explained all about what you had done earlier on! Oh, I’m so relieved it’s just a joke! Please, Stiles!” said Blair as she smacked his shoulder, “Act your age!”
Stiles stared at Blair in horror. Caroline defended him and had lie about what he has done earlier. He felt even more guiltier on how he treated Caroline.
“You know what.” Blair said slowly as she patted Stiles’s shoulder. “You should check out Carol. She’s a super sweet girl and a very gorgeous one too.”
Stiles just gave a forced smile and sat down saying nothing.
“WELCOME TO THE STAGE, EVERYBODY!” squealed Agnes Crumplebottom, the director of ‘The Stage’.
“I am so glad that almost half of the population of Sunset-Valley is here! As for the other half, do not fret! We are on live now and probably on your TV screen now! Sit back and enjoy the show as we, ‘The Stage’ bring you one of our very talented dancers out!”
“Do welcome Miss Caroline Debrey!!!!!!” Agnes shouted as she clapped her hands. Everyone clapped along tremendously.
All of a sudden, the whole room was silent. Everyone started to make gasping sounds as Caroline stepped out.
Stiles look up to see what the commotion is about and he too, gasped.
Caroline looked different-very different. Her tight curls were tied into a ponytail and she had on a berry coloured lipstick. When the spotlights shined upon her, her beauty could be seen clearly.
“Wow.” Stiles thought as he placed his hands on his mouth. “She looks….beautiful.”
As Caroline walked along the stage to say her greetings to everyone else, Stiles stood on the spot looking very much dazed.
Her beauty has left Stiles dumbfounded. Stiles scratched his head as he thought to himself, “She is pretty as always…but why have I suddenly find her even more prettier than before, beautiful perhaps?”
Caroline shouted in excitement, “Let’s get this party started!” Everyone cheered in return and as soon as Caroline started dancing, everyone danced along too. The party was indeed very wild and everyone pretty much enjoyed themselves.
As soon as the show is over and most of the people have went home, Stiles went over to Caroline to congratulate her.
“Oh my Gosh! How was my performance, Stiles? Tell me!” Caroline asked quickly.
“It was great. You can tell from the crowd!” Stiles laughed and then he said out those words, the three words that took him a long time to say it out. “You….look…..beautiful.” Stiles said shyly.
Caroline teared a little bit and then resorted to hug Stiles.
They hugged for a few seconds only but for Stiles, it felt like forever.
He felt different. He didn’t know what that feeling was, but he knew it was different than how he felt towards her before.
He no longer hates her.
Instead, he felt something. An indescribable feeling.
